" VISION "
on Shikishi rice paper
board
Yuriko has a vision . Of a
world of sensitive landscapes . Of waters and skies in meditative forms .
Of trees and flowers as sublime images .
Yuriko is a sensitive
landscapist .Using the traditional Japanese genre , she mixes it with her
Indian experiences . Her encounters of nature , in all its overwhelming
beauty are absorbed , mulled over and turned over into a sublime VISION. Her
stylised ouvre of painting has a meditative quality . Even the use of gold
is far from a kitschy excess, and in fact adds dignity to the mood .
Ingenuous use of gold borders , sophisticated colours on subtly textured
Japanese Shikishi paper create these poetic landscapes .
Those familiar with
Shantiniketan artists, will find a stylistic similarity in Yuriko's work
.The Japanese calligraphic brushworks that inspired the Shantiniketan
masters , were also a source of inspiration to Yuriko .Her free flowing
brushwork in the calligraphic drawings show a supple strength .
Spiritual concerns are primarily
manifest Yurio's work . And she uses the materiality of paper and her
medium to good effect . Although her work is traditional in temperament ,
she adds a note of the contemporary in the way she introduces subtle
dissonances in forms .
Come, share Yuriko's VISION .
