Goa is a land associated with fun in the sun, sand, palm trees and feni, and a wonderful laid back sense of "sausegade". But this paradise on earth of course inspires a lot of beauty and creativity, be it in art, music, poetry . Focusing on the art, JAMAAT is delighted to bring you three artists from Goa - all girls .

VERODINA FERRAO Verodina sculpts in the very tangible, warm, earthy, medium of terracotta. Moulded by hand, these figures are then fired in ovens giving fabulous tones and finishes to the surface. Long, languid figures of women and men, in fascinating positions of sitting, reading, reclining, talking. Every day activities, done in such an elegant way. The baking make them really hardy and strong. Verodina has done several out-door installations all over the world

LIESL COTTA De SOUZA Liesl works in a medium that is almost lost to-day .In complete contrast contrast to the modern form of computer generated art , Liesl embroiders her paintings silk thread on cloth. Painstakingly done , each colour , shade , hue is different . The images are of village women doing mundane every day chores . The figures have such expressive forms and the background is richly worked .Liesl's works so breathtakingly beautiful , it makes you marvel at the composition and workmanship . It is hard to believe they are not just regular paint on canvas .

SONIA RODRIGUES SABHARWAL Sonia paints with acrylic on canvas , bringing in the oft -forgotten Hindu element of Goa . Divine Ganeshas in bright colours and fun forms.. Her works have a naivete which belie a well-thought out and sensitive composition.

JAMAAT gives you - Three Goan girls . Three brilliant artist . Three different art forms . Come, lets GoaGoaGoa.
