Our Heritage
Of Bengali origin, now settled in Delhi, Sudip has all the mastery of colour that
is so inherent in Bengal. A water colourist extra-ordinaire,
his works reflect the subtleties and nuances of an era gone by.
These architectural studies of
facades and interiors are shown with a fantastic play of light
and colour. Done in an impressionist style, the realistic images evoke
a romantic vintage. Where, an open doorway, a broken window, a paved
courtyard is an artistic statement to be thought about, suffused by history.
Sudip is deeply contemplative, and his memory is as important as his artistic skills.
But in his recall, the images have
a great play of light and shadow. And there is a serenity as
well as a haunting mood about his work.
These watercolours on paper bring back
a time that is past and yet have remnants that are still
present in our country. A time of grace and elegance and some amount of decadence.
Come view Our Heritage and recapture that mood.
