FIGURATIVES
Figuratives are the most popular form of paintings in India. This
comes from our rich heritage of icons and idols down the ages.
A form easily understood and readily accepted has found wide coverage all over the world.
In this show,
we have a group from all over the country, doing figurative paintings as their main genre.
Different styles - some diffused,
some completely realistic, all wonderful.
Fatima has her exquisite style,
where bright colours in their diffused form reveal a mysterious figure.
Ilango with his bold
strokes and vivid colours has his figures perfectly proportioned splashed across the canvas.
Shankar using a bold
palette shows his figures with a smudged screen. Very striking and well - received.
Ratnakar does his figures in a highly stylised,
very fun and colourful manner.
The Latur boys - Anand, Amritraj, Vijay, Sanjay and Nitin have
a realistic, rustic milieu, each in their own individual style.
Abbas has his own distinctive
style, very humorous with a wonderful blend of the East-West garb.
Certainly A SHOW WORTH VIEWING, WORTH FIGURING!
